You may have heard that the law of attraction enables you to attract everything you desire, whether it be a new mate, a better job, improved health or a greater sense of joy. Many people want a better life, but feel that achieving such a lofty goal is “easier said than done.” To reach fulfillment, individuals often need to adopt new credos and train themselves to think in a new way. The Law of Attraction as presented by Jerry and Esther Hicks is one such method that provides tips to help you apply universal laws and teachings to your own life.

Their programs teach that it is one’s legacy to live a life full of pleasure and goodness; that all things, both wanted and unwanted, are affected by our thought processes, and that everyone can attain everything they wish for. Twenty-two processes seek to reconnect individuals with a spiritual energy to bring about a more joyful life.

Since 1986, the teachings behind the Law of Attraction have been encouraging people to generate better realities; nevertheless a person must first subscribe to the following fundamental beliefs of the law. The universe adores you for it knows your broadest intentions. Relax into your natural well-being/all is well. You are a creator of thought-ways on your unique path of joy. Actions to be taken and possessions to be exchanged are byproducts of your focus on joy. You may appropriately depart your body without illness or pain. You cannot die/you are everlasting life.

There are lots of positive assessments of the Law of Attraction. “I listened to the audio and it helped me put things into perspective,” writes one reviewer at Amazon. “I now want to get the book and outline points that I need to focus on.” Other reviewers found some enlightenment as to why series of bad events continually happen to them. They say they began as skeptics of this universal power law, but were pleasantly surprised to see the pieces of their lives put together.

Even though many people swear by the Law of Attraction concepts, there are a number of critics as well. They argue that the secret to the law of attraction is little more than a “brand” that brings Esther and Jerry untold riches and fame. The idea that metaphysical entities speak through Esther has been called “hokey” by some listeners. Regardless of the finer points, open-minded individuals can find help through a law of attraction book or CD, but they have to be willing to go along with the plot and try to apply these concepts to their own lives. This challenge proves too difficult for some.

The Law of Attraction will appeal the most to those whose lives are in transition. Regardless of whether there has been a death in the family, a sudden bout of unemployment, a tumultuous relationship or a medical diagnosis, there are various periods when we can all use a little guidance. There is no substitute for one-on-one counseling with a professional mental health specialist, but the Law of Attraction has made it easier for many people get back on track. The first step to dealing with loss and sadness is to find a positive state of mind. The subsequent step is to set some targets and follow through.

If you want to learn about the law of attraction, you have to start by researching all of the material that is available. There are countless books, movies and CDs on the subject of the universal laws of attraction, many of which explore certain aspects in more depth than others.
